RATINGS! Strictly Come Dancing continues to triumph over X Factor

Strictly Come Dancing continued to triumph over The X Factor in the viewing figures last night.

The latest Strictly results were watched by an average audience of 9.3 million between 7:15PM and 8PM yesterday as another celebrity went home.

The numbers are up 200,000 week-on-week and represent a hefty 450,000 rise on 2015's equivalent results show.

Over on ITV and between 8PM and 9PM, The X Factor rallied from Saturday's series low ratings of 5.8 million.

Last night's X Factor results were up to 6.7 million viewers, a rise of 200,000 on last Sunday's show despite the lower numbers for the Saturday night.

However year-on-year comparisons remain poor: In 2015 the second live results show had 7.8 million viewers - although it did air later in the year - while in 2014 the equivalent episode had over 8.5 million.

Elsewhere last night, Channel 4 enjoyed a big audience of 3.1 million for its one-off celebrity special of The Crystal Maze. The revival in aid of Stand Up For Cancer marked 21 years since the gameshow previously aired on UK TV back in the 1990s.

Meanwhile, new ITV drama Tutunkhamun started with 4.5 million viewers while Poldark continued with 5 million on BBC One.
