That's despite the Hollyoaks hunk enjoying another total of 36 points last night.
Danny and his pro partner Oti Mabuse danced the Quickstep to 'I Won't Dance' by Fred Astaire on Saturday and once again enjoyed nines from all four judges.
But they were bettered by Ore Oduba and his dance partner Joanne Clifton who performed the Jive to 'Runaway Baby' by Bruno Mars.
They scored the first tens of the series and a near perfect total of 39 points out of 40, with only Craig Revel Horwood not awarding a ten.
Craig remarked: "The game has finally changed, you are the one to beat. I hope Danny Mac was watching that because he's got a big load of competition."
On Twitter and some fans accused the judges of undermarking Danny for what they felt was an equally good dance.
"Surely Danny & Oti deserved some 10's for their QS? That was FAB" one viewer wrote online.
"Danny and Oti undermarked in comparison," another agreed.
Another suggested: "Nah mate Ore was overmarked and Danny was undermarked that's not ok"
"Disappointed in @bbcstrictly tonight. #Danny was under marked. #Ore was overmarked," echoed more viewers.
Strictly's dedicated fans weren't also impressed with the judges suggesting that Ore's jive had outdone Jay McGuiness' performance from last year.
"Ore not a patch on Jay - the judges need to go to Specsavers!" one complaint read.
