Strictly Come Dancing's Karen Clifton has said she's "so sad" after Will Young quit the show.

It was confirmed that Will young had quit Strictly Come Dancing earlier tonight, citing personal reasons.

"Due to personal reasons, Will Young has decided to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing," said a spokesperson for the show. "The show fully respects his decision and wishes him all the best for the future."

Will's pro partner Karen was quick to take to Twitter to express her sadness.

"I'm so sad that Will has decided to quit the show and I know it wasn't an easy decision for him," she posted online.

Karen added: "It was great dancing with him, he was such fun to work with and I wish him all the very best for the future."

The pair had been one of the favourite couples to win before tonight's shock news.

Will said in his own statement released earlier: "Unfortunately, I am leaving the show for personal reasons. I leave with joy in my heart that I have been able to take part in one of the most loved shows on British television.

"I am so grateful to everyone who works on Strictly from the lighting designer to catering to the production team. Strictly truly is the most unique family and I thank them from the bottom of my heart."

Strictly Come Dancing will return this Saturday and Sunday night on BBC One.
