Strictly Come Dancing 2016's live shows started 500,000 viewers down on last year last night.
An average audience of 7.2 million viewers tuned in to Friday evening's opening Strictly Come Dancing live show, peaking at 7.6 million.
There was some dodgy moves, trout pouting and a judge-pleasing Jive as the first six of the 15 celebrity couples performed live.
The viewing figures for the hour long show between 9PM and 10PM yesterday evening were down 500,000 viewers on 2015 but well up on 2014's figure of 6.5 million.
Strictly was still the most watched show of the day and triumphed over everything else in its slot with Gogglebox notching up 2.7 million viewers over on Channel 4 at the same time.
It's the one and only Friday episode of the series with Strictly continuing tonight before airing every Saturday and Sunday thereafter until Christmas.
This evening's episode will see the remaining nine celebrities dance but there will be no public vote or elimination, with the judges' scores carried forward to next weekend.
Fortunately for fans of both X Factor and Strictly there will be no clash, at least for this week.
Strictly Come Dancing airs this evening from 6:30PM on BBC One with The X Factor starting straight after at 8PM over on ITV.
