Strictly Come Dancing 2016: Will Young is the favourite to win after pairings revealed

Will Young has been named as the early favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing 2016.

It follows Saturday night's launch show where the celebrity line up were partnered up with their pro dancers for the series.

Will Young - coupled with Karen Clifton - is the new favourite to win after he shortened into 10/3 from 4/1 replacing gymnast Claudia Fragapane at the head of the betting. Claudia, who is with new pro dancer AJ, hasn’t gone far however as she drifted out to the 4/1 second favourite from 10/3.

The real dark horse of the competition however is Judge Rinder who has shortened yet again and is now priced at 10/1 to take the Glitterball trophy. Having originally been installed as a 50/1 outsider, Judge Rinder was quickly cut into 20/1 and then again to 16/1 just ahead of the weekend’s launch night. As support continues to grow for the judge, it suggests he will continue to get shorter.

Ireland’s own Laura Whitmore has unfortunately drifted from 7/1 for the title after Saturday’s show, but is not completely out of the running at 10/1.

Daisy Lowe is one of the biggest movers of the bunch as she is pushed all the way out to 25/1 from 9/1 after showcasing very little rhythm in the group dance.

Presenter Naga Munchetty could be one to watch after her odds were slashed into 12/1 from 20/1 with BBC Sports presenter Ore Oduba also moving in the right direction after shortening into 11/2 from 12/1.

Aoife Heffron from bookies ByleSports commented: “Will Young is the new favourite for the Glitterball trophy after punters got behind the popstar to win following a brief look at what he has in store for the dancefloor. His pairing with fan favourite professional dancer Karen Clifton definitely has him at an advantage also.”

She added “Laura Whitmore was paired with newly single Giovanni Pernice, who was runner up last year with now ex-girlfriend Georgia May Foote. Despite a positive pairing the Bray star has been eased out to 10/1 from 7/1 to be the first ever Irish winner, but we are continuing to keep the faith.”
