Appearing on BBC's The Andrew Marr Show today (Sunday), Ed confessed his performance in the first group dance last night was little more than dad dancing.
He said: “I’m not sure what was more traumatic: my dad moves, which look rather more dad like than I expected, or the pictures of me with all these sparkling celebrities, and me looking like the person who is going to serve them drinks in this bow tie!”
Ed, who has been partnered with new pro Katya Jones on Strictly 2016, went on to tell Andrew Marr that he could surprise viewers when the live shows start at the end of the month.
Or maybe he really will be as bad as everyone is expecting.
The former MP said: “I mean look, maybe I will emerge from my chrysalis.
“But – or it may turn out that I was a slug all along.”
Strictly last night launched to 9.3 million viewers, its highest rated opener EVER.
The celebs and their pro partners now have three weeks of training to ready them for the first live show at the end of the month.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Friday September 23 and Saturday September 24 as the celebs dance properly for the first time this year.
