Georgia May Foote has said she's happy for ex Giovanni Pernice and Laura Whitemore on Strictly Come Dancing.

Last year's finalist has hit back at "crap" reports in the tabloids claiming that she was unhappy after former partner Giovanni was paired with friend Laura on this year's series.

Georgia tweeted last night: “Good luck to all the @bbcstrictly 2016 cast and crew on their launch show tonight! Sending all my love! Im sure its going to be incredible.

“And i would just like to wish @thewhitmore and @pernicegiovann1 good luck. Please do not believe the crap you read! Shes a beautiful person”.

Georgia danced with pro performer Giovanni in his first year on Strictly in 2015 and following the show - and Georgia's break up from her previous boyfriend - the pair became a couple.

They were living together as Giovanni prepared for a brand new series of Strictly with a new celebrity pairing.

"Of course I'll get jealous," Georgia admitted to OK! magazine just last month. "Whoever Giovanni gets is a very lucky girl. He’s a great teacher."

She added: "I’m excited for whoever he gets and, yeah, he’s a great teacher, so I’m happy for him. I think it’s fine."

However last weekend saw Georgia announce they were no longer seeing one another, tweeting: "It is with great sadness we have decided to split up. There is nobody else involved. Although it was not an easy decision to make, sometimes you realise that it is better to be friends and this is one of those times."

Georgia went on: "We both have very busy work schedules for the rest of the year so we are both going to focus on our upcoming work projects and we wish each other well for the future."
