The announcement was made today (Tuesday 16 August) via the official BBC Strictly Twitter and Facebook feeds where it was confirmed that Danny will be taking part in the brand new series.
“I’m as terrified as I am excited! I’ve done a few bits and bobs of secret filming for the show and it’s all become very real now," Danny said.
He added: "I can’t believe that I am now part of the biggest show on television and I cannot wait to get started."
Over his four years on Hollyoaks, Danny was nominated at the National Television Awards for Best Newcomer, Most Popular Newcomer, and Best Serial Drama Performance. He was also voted three times as Soap’s Sexiest Man at the Inside Soap Awards, and twice Sexiest Male at the British Soap Awards.
Danny joins singer Louise Redknapp, Kiss FM DJ Melvin Odoom, former politician Ed Balls, singer Will Young, TV presenter Laura Whitmore and sports broadcaster Ore Oduba who have already been announced as contestants for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
More celebrity contestants for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing will be announced over the next few days.
Strictly Come Dancing will return to TV in September, with the exact launch date still to be confirmed.
