BBC wants Laura Whitmore for Strictly Come Dancing 2016 after I'm A Celebrity exit

Could X Factor face a battle with its arch rival for the Irish star?

It seems Laura Whitmore is in demand now she's left the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! presenting team - as BBC One apparently wants her to sign up for Strictly Come Dancing 2016.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Laura has left ITV2 spin-off show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here NOW! after five years as its main host.

And with her schedule now clear during Strictly's fourteenth series, which will air at the end of the year, The Sun claims that show bosses want her to take to the dancefloor.

"Laura is gorgeous and has cool celeb friends that could support her in the audience, such as Niall Horan and former champ Caroline Flack," an insider said.

"The BBC would love to get her signed up."

However, Strictly may face a battle with its Saturday night arch rival The X Factor to win the Irish star, as it was also rumoured today that she could land a hosting role on The Xtra Factor.

Bookies have slashed the odds of Laura replacing Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom on the Simon Cowell talent contest, with a source telling the Irish Mirror: "Now she’s cut ties, there’s nothing to stop her from committing to the singing competition."

Laura said she's looking forward to "continuing to work with ITV" when she confirmed her exit from I'm A Celebrity earlier this week, adding: "It’s been such a wonderful experience but I feel it’s time to move on."

Comedian David Morgan is also reportedly leaving the jungle reality show, although he is yet to comment.
