Strictly Come Dancing 2016: Call The Midwife's Laura Main wants to take part

Call The Midwife star Laura Main wants to take part in Strictly Come Dancing 2016.

The actress says she hopes to follow in the footsteps of co star Helen George who took part in the series last year.

But could she do better than Helen's sixth place finish?

Laura has already got some Strictly experience having WON the Children In Need special last year against a trio of other Call The Midwife cast members - Jenny Agutter, Stephen McGann and Jack Ashton - after she danced with Brendan Cole.

Now Laura is eyeing up a role in the full series when it returns later this year but isn't too optimistic about being invited on.

"Well, I’ve got the Pudsey Glitterball Trophy and no one can take that away from me," she said this week.

Laura told OK! magazine: “I love the show but I don’t think I’d get asked.

"I wouldn’t turn it down though!”

Laura competed in Strictly's Children In Need competition last November and won the one-off special after being crowned the best dancer by the judges.

The same year fellow Call The Midwife star Helen made the Quarter Finals of the main show where she was paired with Aljaž Skorjanec.

Strictly will be back for its fourteenth series in the autumn on BBC One.
