The Wanted hunk Jay McGuiness thinks SMILING could be the hardest part of Strictly Come Dancing.

The singer says he signed up for the latest series as a challenge on his return to Britain.

"I’m taking part in Strictly to experience a challenge and to come back home to the UK as I have been living in Los Angeles recently," Jay explained this week. "Also to meet new people and to be judged by Len which I think will make me a real man!

"A lot of people won’t know that I’m the only member of The Wanted that had danced beforehand at a college in Nottingham but I did a lot of contemporary dance so I’m looking forward to now learning different types of dance that I’ve never done before."

Jay continued: "I think my biggest challenge will be smiling, not because I’m not happy but because I’m not naturally a smiley person so when it comes to one of the more enthusiastic dances I think I’m going to really struggle to bring that character out.

"I’m also going to struggle with having a strict routine again, I’ve been away from work and living in Los Angeles for a year as well as travelling, but now I have commitments to uphold and focus on, so that’s going to be a challenge."

He added: "I would like to make it to half-way in the competition and then I can bow out with grace. Anything else is a bonus and anything less then I will try and not mention it."

Georgia May Foote ranks herself a '6 out of 10'

One of Jay's rivals is former Corrie actress Georgia May Foote who has confessed to previously going to dance school.

"I’m going to be a bit rusty for starters so I will be generous and give myself 6 out of 10 so then there’s room to improve," she said. "I used to dance when I was younger and used to go to dance school to do hip-hop and street dance which is massively different to ballroom.

"I used to freestyle too so the more precise and technical dancing is going to be quite difficult."

But while Georgia may have some dance experience, nothing has prepared her for Strictly's live shows.

She explains: "I’ve never really done anything like that before and making sure to stay calm.

"Also to remember everything because I know you can have one of those moments where your brain just goes completely blank."

Georgia added: "I do remember talking to my Coronation Street co-star Natalie Gumede the year she was in Strictly and she said it was so tiring and that you’ve got to keep yourself on the ball and get lots of sleep."

Strictly Come Dancing 2015 kicks off this Saturday, September 5 on BBC One.
