Strictly Come Dancing beats X Factor 2014 in latest ratings battle

Strictly Come Dancing one again beat The X Factor in the ratings last night, but neither show can brag this morning.

The two latest episodes clashed for 30 minutes as the remaining nine celebs performed their first live dance on Strictly's second episode of the weekend.

Over on ITV and bootcamp continued as Mel B's Boys and Simon Cowell's Overs faced the six chair challenge.

An average audience of 8.2 million watched Strictly, down almost a million viewers on last equivalent episode (9.1 million) but well up on Friday's figure of 6.5 million.

X Factor meanwhile took another knock and averaged 7.85 million, up ever so slightly on last year's episode (7.83 million).

It was also a massive boost from Friday's low, although it was the least watched Saturday episode of the series so far, down on last week's 8.6 million, and almost the lowest numbers of the whole of the whole series too.

The gap between the Strictly and X Factor however is now closer than ever following their two previous clashes this year.

Strictly continues next weekend on BBC One while The X Factor is back on tonight from 8PM on ITV.
