Claudia Winkleman is reportedly being backed by Beeb bosses to host Strictly Come Dancing 2014.
It seems like the most obvious choice with Claudia already hosting the Sunday results show and the weeks where Sir Brucie has previously been off.
But according to the Daily Star on Sunday newspaper, the move could cause a bit of conflict with long-running host Tess Daly.
“It’s a lot of pressure to be the main presenter for the live show and they’d prefer Claudia to take up that role which could leave Tess feeling a little put out," a supposed show source told the newspaper. “She’s quite worried about what Bruce’s departure means for her.”
Another name being rumoured is ITV chatshow host Alan Titchmarsh.
The source added: "The job is Claudia’s for the taking.
“If she turns it down again the only other favourite would be Alan.”
Claudia has the backing of Strictly judge Len Goodman, who said: “Claudia and Tess are brilliant together. I wouldn’t look any further, personally.”
But when it came to who he’d like to replace him, Sir Brucie himself had a rather unusual and not too serious suggestion, joking: “Boris Johnson would be ideal. I believe he can dance a bit.”
No official announcement on a replacement has been made yet but with the bookies, Eurovision commentator Graham Norton is the favourite.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Brucie’s retirement has been on the cards for a while, but the odds firmly suggest that Graham Norton will waltz his way into presenting Strictly Come Dancing.”
