The Strictly Come Dancing 2013 celebrities have reacted to the news that Rachel Riley's marriage is over, apparently because of the show.
Countdown host Rachel was part of this year's cast until her elimination last month.
At the weekend it was reported that Rachel's split from her husband of sixteen months had been partially blamed on her closeness with strictly pro Pasha Kovalev.
“The amount of time Rachel spent with Pasha became too much for Jamie [Rachel's husband]," a source told The Sun newspaper yesterday. “It was the last thing their marriage needed. Her spending a lot of her social time with this other man was the final straw. The jealousy drove Jamie mad.”
Strictly's Patrick Robinson told the newspaper he wasn't shocked, explaining: “When you are dancing in close proximity every day you build a strong relation-ship with your partner and if you get on really well it can spill over — we are all human.
“I’m not surprised that relationships can flourish in terms of a partnership.
“Being in close proximity to someone so you’re actually physically touching can take its toll — you have to work hard to keep that professional.”
Meanwhile, Hollyoaks hunk Ashley Taylor-Dawson said he was "relived" to have been partnered with a married pro dancer.
“When I got partnered with Ola there was a sense of relief because her husband James is in the show. They’ve been together 15 years and married for ten so it put all that to bed," he said. “We went for a meal with James and Ola at the beginning, because I was going to be spending a lot of time with Ola and I wanted [my fiance] Karen to be comfortable with that.”
The Strictly Come Dancing quarter final will be on Saturday 7th December at 7.10pm, with the results show on Sunday 8th December at 7.20pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
