Strictly Come Dancing 2013 judge Craig Revel Horwood has branded ITV rival Stepping Out "terrible".

The two dance shows go head to head tonight as Strictly airs its premiere launch episode.

The pre-recorded show will see the fifteen celebs meet their professional partners before they perform for the first time in a group number.

Meanwhile, Stepping Out will see its first elimination of the series in its second live show.

The ITV series - which has Mel B and Jason Gardiner on its judging panel - sees celebs taught to dance with their real life partners.

But Craig reckons the format will make for bad results.

“You have two novices on Stepping Out, so it’s basically the blind leading the blind. The results could be terrible," he told The Sun newspaper earlier this week.

Craig added: “On Strictly, you do have professional dancers to teach you but they can’t just drag you around — the male celebrities have to lead and the women follow.

“Any show that promotes dance is a good thing but it will be interesting to see how well their dancing on Stepping Out turns out.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight from 6:50PM on BBC One, while Stepping Out starts a tad earlier at 6:30PM on ITV.
