Strictly Come Dancing beats X Factor at National Television Awards

The XFactor 2013

Strictly Come Dancing has triumphed as the Best Talent Show at tonight's 2013 National Television Awards.

Three of ITV shows went up against two from the BBC, with Britain's Got Talent, Dancing On Ice, Strictly Come Dancing, The Voice UK and The X Factor all being nominated in the category.

It was the first time in five years that Strictly had beaten The X Factor.

X Factor host Dermot O'Leary had the rather unfortunate task of handing over the gong to the Strictly gang, which included runner up Kimberley Walsh.

It's sure to make Simon Cowell unhappy, which is bad news for any of the poor wannabes auditioning for Britain's Got Talent hosts.

Meanwhile, I'm A Celebrity walked away with the title for Best Entertainment show, which was picked up by runner up and new Dancing On Ice judge Ashley Roberts.

Britain's Got Talent hosts Ant and Dec picked up the Best Presenter award again, and thanked the voters in a live link from the auditions in London.

Ant joked: "Simon Cowell hasn't given us the night off!"

And Dec added: "We are so, so happy and pleased to get the award for the twelfth year. We are so lucky to work on such fantastic shows."
