Bruno Tonioli has defended Strictly Come Dancing's Denise Van Outen, encouraging viewers to vote for the West End performer.
Speaking on It Takes Two last night, Bruno said he couldn't understand why Denise was in the bottom two for the second time in as many weeks on Sunday night.
He told host Zoe Ball: "It reminds people who thought ‘she is so good she doesn’t need my vote’. I have to emphasise this all the time, you have to vote no one is safe, the margin is so small and the public vote is so important, and if you don’t vote your favourite, they are going to go.”
Denise and her pro partner James Jordan wowed the judges to land second on the leaderboard on Saturday night with a Tango and Rumba, both of which pleased Bruno.
“Her tango was technically incredible," he said. "There was a sequence for me towards the end, there were a couple of very sharp links in, the build-up to their performance built up beautifully to a climax that was sensational.
"It was clean, it was sharp, it was powerful, it was dramatic – everything a Tango should be, and if you look the lines, the posture, the footwork – everything was superb, perfect!”
And he continued: "That rumba was special. They did something completely different.
"Usually with the rumba they go for the raunchy and the sexy, but this was played as a romantic love story. Every step had a meaning, everything was delivered with total conviction, there were some steps that were almost contemporary in feel, that I thought were so inspiring in fact it was like watching a film. For me it was one of the most inspired rumbas I have ever seen!”
