Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Kimberley Walsh tops semi-final leaderboard with another perfect 40

Kimberley WalshGirls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh topped the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard again in tonight's semi-final, with her Charleston earning her top marks from the judges.

With only five couples left in the competition, this week they each had to prepare two dances in an attempt to impress the viewers - and there was added pressure for Kimberley and partner Pasha Kovalev, who faced the job of matching the 40 points they won last week.

Their first dance was an American Smooth, but despite high praise from the notoriously tough Craig Revel-Horwood - who said he'd put their routine straight in to a show - it just missed the mark, scoring 38.

However, their second appearance blew the entire panel away, winning them another round of tens - and a combined score of 78.

Denise Van Outen and James Jordan weren't far behind, with their Tango and Rumba performances notching up a total of 77 points. The former was denied a perfect score by Craig, who gave nine points among the other judges' tens.

Elsewhere, Dani Harmer and Vincent Simone's Argentine Tango proved a hit, helping them to third place with 72 points - followed by Louis Smith and Flavia Cacace, who scored 69 points having recieved a mixed response from the judges.

Predictably, Lisa Riley and Robin Windsor came in last with a comparatively low total of 63 points. Len Goodman summed up their routines by saying: "You're not always the judges' champion, but you're the people's champion."

One more pair will be voted out tomorrow night ahead of next week's grand final.
