Dani Harmer has admitted she's glad to be showing people the real her on Strictly Come Dancing 2012.
The petite actress has proved an unlikely contender in the competition, being dubbed a 'dark pony' after going from one of the favourites to be eliminated to one of the favourites to win.
Dani is now in the semi-finals and is happy to be showing viewers her personality outside of Tracy Beaker.
The 23-year-old admitted: “There’s such a spotlight on Strictly – people see you as you really are.”
“I’ve pretty much grown up on TV but no one really noticed. This is a whole new level.”
The tiny star also said she was "over" jibes from internet trolls about her weight.
She told STV: “I’m over it, it’s just silly.
“You soon realise those sad types have said the same thing about every celebrity going. I’m from a background where you’re taught that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
And Dani puts a lot of her success in the show down to her professional partner Vincent Simone, explaining: “I think what people like is our friendship – we get on so well.
“Vincent’s really genuine, he really is a smooth Italian charmer – he never switches it off.”
Dani added: “I didn’t expect to last so long in Strictly – three weeks, maybe – so I thought doing panto would be no problem.
“But now I’m in the semi-final, with two dances to learn, and I’m starting rehearsals for Cinderella in York. It’s got Shetland ponies in it. And they’re bound to poo on the stage, because they always do. I don’t know why they have them.”
