Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Can Dani Harmer challenge for the top spot?

Dani Harmer (Strictly Come Dancing)

Dani Harmer could cause an upset on Strictly Come Dancing 2012 this year.

Nicky Byrne became the latest star to leave the show in Sunday's Strictly Come Dancing 2012 results, losing in the dance off against Denise Van Outen.

Saturday's show saw some top marks, with Kimberley Walsh scoring a perfect 40 points from the panel.

Also doing well was Dani, who scored her first tens of the series too to be second on the leaderboard, with both girls ahead of favourite Louis Smith.

Louis remains the 4/5 odds on favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing as we head into the semi-finals this weekend, but he should be looking over his shoulder as former 25/1 outsider Dani Harmer is coming up quickly on the outside and is now 6/1 third favourite.

“Viewers love a story as well as an underdog, Dani fulfils both criteria," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.

He added: "At the start of the competition she had two left feet, now she is getting fantastic scores and is a genuine contender."

Meanwhile Lisa Riley has been tipped to leave the show next week, despite having avoided the dance off so far this series.
