Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Michael Vaughan backs Nicky Byrne to win

Michael Vaughan (Strictly Come Dancing)

Eliminated Strictly Come Dancing star Michael Vaughan has backed Nicky Byrne to win the show.

After three times in the dance off, yesterday evening was finally Michael's time to say goodbye as he was eliminated in the latest Strictly Come Dancing 2012 results.

The cricket star was in the bottom two with Nicky, the Westlife star's second time in the danger zone.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on It Takes Two last night, Michael said: “I think it was the right week for us to go, we’d love to have gone on a bit longer but if you look at the actual competition and the standard I think I drained every ounce of dancing ability out of myself, so it was the right week for me to go.”

He added: “For nine weeks we trained really hard, we had to to get better but once it was all over it was time to go and have a bit of fun.”

Michael said Nicky deserved to win in the dance off and revealed he was now backing the singer to win the series.

He explained: “I actually have produced some good dances in the dance off because you just go for it, there is no other option, we actually did it a lot better.

"Nicky on the night gave an incredible performance and he deserved it.

"He should win, he's my pal!"
