Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Louis Smith regains favourite tag

Louis Smith (Strictly Come Dancing)

Louis Smith has regained his title as favourite of Strictly Come Dancing 2012.

After three times in the dance off, this evening was finally Michael Vuaghan's time to say goodbye as he was eliminated in the latest Strictly Come Dancing 2012 results.

The cricket star was in the bottom two with Nicky Byrne, the Westlife star's second time in the danger zone.

It leaves just Louis, Denise Van Outen, Lisa Riley and Dani Harmer as the remaining acts who've yet to fall into the dance off

Louis is back as bookies' favourite after topping the leaderboard on Saturday night, while Denise scored 32 points, low marks for her.

The updated odds follow claims that Denise has been receiving some of the fewest votes from the public with an average of 7% in the polls.

Louis Smith is said to be leading the pack with 30% at his peak and a strong average of 24%.

A show source told the Daily Star Sunday yesterday: “Denise is the latest in a long line of bookies’ favourites who perform well on screen but just aren’t connecting with the public.

“Maybe they resent her West End experience and have got behind some of the underdogs instead.

“In an Olympic year you would expect Louis to do well but viewers may be surprised he is topping the vote most weeks.

“If he keeps it up, the winner’s glitterball is as good as his.”
