Strictly Come Dancing: Bruce Forsyth backs Kimberley Walsh, Victoria Pendleton

Strictly Come Dancing host Sir Bruce Forsyth has revealed he admires this year's stars.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror this week, Brucie claimed that this year's line up was the best yet, hence its huge ratings.

“We have got so many good ones so it is very competitive," he said. "When we get down to the last six the public will be really scratching their heads saying ‘who is the best?’. That is when the personalities come through.”

Sir Bruce has his personal favourites, describing Kimberley as “a lovely girl with a lovely manner”, adding: “She’s not big-headed – just a lovely north country girl. I think that comes over.”

Another favourite of Sir Bruce's is Olympic star Victoria Pendleton, despite her disappointing scores from the judges.

He told the tabloid yesterday: “It’s very, very difficult for her. You can’t take anything away from someone who has won gold.

"I admire her but it is very different pushing forward and keeping your arms stiff going round the velodrome, to putting your arms round Brendan.

"The guts it takes to go up there and do a routine. It is courageous, believe me. I admire them all so much.”
