Richard Arnold has admitted he expected to leave on last night's Strictly Come Dancing results.
Speaking after his exit last night, Richard said: “I never dreamed I’d get that far, especially after being in the dance-off the first week.
“You think of the people who are left — members of the biggest boy band and girl band in Britain, the man who won the Ashes, two Olympians — what a line-up!"
He added: “But I said to judge Len Goodman I think it was the natural order for me to go this weekend. Now you’ve got eight couples left who are brilliant at what they do.”
Meanwhile the telly presenter admitted that Strictly was a much better show than ITV1, despite hosting This Morning!
“I think Strictly is very much in keeping with the national psyche post the Olympics,” he told The Sun newspaper.
“We’re still surfing that feelgood factor from the summer. Strictly is a show that appeals to all generations. It’s about people working hard and achieving, minding their Ps and Qs and being gracious in defeat, which echoes the sentiments from the Olympics.
“It really is a show that’s the best of British, rather than being ambulance-chasing, like some reality shows can be.”
