Strictly Come Dancing 2012 hits series high with 2 million lead over X Factor

Strictly Come Dancing 2012 ratings hit a series high last night, with a two million lead over The X Factor.

The sixth Strictly show was watched by an average audience of 10.4 million viewers between 6:30PM and 8:05PM.

It's the highest rating of the current series to date, and peaked with a whopping 11.6 million viewers.

The show had more than a two million lead over The X Factor, however the ITV1 series also enjoyed an increase in ratings.

For the first time this series, last night's show was up on the previous week's, with an average audience of 8.4 million viewers watching and catching up on ITV1+1.

The Best of British themed live show peaked with 9.6 million viewers, including those on ITV1+1.
