Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Lisa Riley admits being a wardrobe diva!

Lisa Riley (Strictly Come Dancing)

Strictly Come Dancing star Lisa Riley has admitted to being a bit of a wardrobe diva behind the scenes.

The larger than life actress impressed the judges and public once again at the weekend, and is pleased she's being taken as a serious contender.

The former Emmerdale star confessed there had been a few clashes with the show's costume department over her outfits, but they've been meeting her demands.

"I don’t want to be a caricature. I want to be ladylike and I want to be sexy — if I can be those two things then I’m dead happy," Lisa said. “The costume department are great, they are really onside.

“In certain things I do feel sexy. I felt sexy performing the cha-cha-cha in the first week.

“And it is flattering when people say nice things, no matter what those people look like. Everyone likes to hear, ‘You look lovely today’ or, ‘I saw you at the weekend and you looked cracking’. A bit of sugar never goes amiss."

Lisa, who received 29 points for her Jive with pro partner Robin Windsor on Saturday night, added to the Daily Mirror: “There was a pre-conceived idea about what I’d be like on Strictly but now I think I’ve changed people’s opinions, which I’m chuffed about. Everyone has a right to dance no matter what they look like. And now people come up to me in the street to thank me for putting big girls on the map.

“That wasn’t my agenda at the start, but I do feel happy about it. I want big girls to know they can go to a gym, sweat and look ugly, and it’s all right.

“At the end of the day, if you can’t love yourself, who can you love?"
