The Olympic star is preparing to marry her former coach Scott Gardener, and admitted one of the reasons to join the show was to learn to control her feet.
She told Now magazine: "I had always wanted to dance.
"I really can't dance at all, yet going to watch ballet or contemporary dance was something I quite liked to do.
"I thought this was the best way to learn - get someone professional to reach you, one to one."
The 32-year-old revealed last week how she had originally singed up to the show before the London 2012 games.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Victoria explained how the BBC One dancing series was her “Olympics safety net”, in case she flopped at the games.
She added: “I just thought if things went particularly badly it would be great to have something new to concentrate on.”
Fortunately, Victoria soared at the Olympics and achieved three medals – including two golds – ahead of her Strictly training.
