Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Denise Van Outen tops scoreboard

Denise Van Outen (Strictly Come Dancing)

Denise Van Outen's whiplash injured disappeared this evening as she topped the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard.

The West End star triumphed in a night that saw a mix of dances, from a sexy salsa to a not very Cha Cha Cha Cha!

First up was Nicky Byrne, keen to impress after a tough first outing on the live shows last Saturday night. Unfortunately for Nicky, he struggled once again, with Len saying his cha cha included too much "boyband dancing".

Victoria Pendleton however managed to get back on her bike after forgetting last week's routine, with Bruno declaring: "Victoria is back in the race".

Michael Vaughan's dad dancing to the jive saw him score 15 points, but Denise Van Outen overcame injury to wow with her jive and score 32 points.

Kimberley Walsh split the panel, scoring 26 points for her Foxtrot despite being branded "limp" by Len Goodman.

Finally, last week's chart topper Lisa, scored 25 points.

The combined judges' scores from this week's show and last week's left Louis and Flavia and Denise and James on top of the leaderboard.

In danger are Michael Vaughan and Nicky Byrne, who are joint bottom after the two judges' scores were combined.

The judges' points will be combined with the public's vote to decide who is in the bottom two.

Strictly Come Dancing 2012 continues tomorrow night with the first results show of the series, which will see on celeb sent home.
