Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Denise Van Outen tops leaderboard after first show

Denise Van Outen (Strictly Come Dancing)

Denise Van Outen tops the Strictly Come Dancing 2012 leaderboard after the first live show.

This evening saw the first six celebrities take to the dancefloor, with some mixed results.

There was hesitation from Fern Britton up first, while forgotten steps from Victoria Pendleton saw the Olympian lose marks and get a bit upset.

Craig Revel Horwood blasted new pro dancer Karen Hauer and her celeb partner Nicky Byrne for adding a lift to their waltz, resulting in him giving the pair the lowest mark of the night with a two.

There was some surprises with cricket star Michael Vaughan impressing with his result while Len Goodman declared Colin Salmon's Cha Cha the best of the night.

However it was Denise Van Outen who came out on top with a score of 25, with Craig saying: "Saved the best to last."

There won't be any eliminations this weekend, with the judges' scored being carried through to next week's show.

The Strictly Come Dancing live shows continue tomorrow evening on BBC One with the remaining celebs giving their first dance.
