Describing the Daybreak presenter as a "sweetheart", pro dancer Erin said: "He has now been thrust into the glittering spotlight and I'm thrilled to have been paired with him.
"I had a hoot with Rory last year, so to have another sharp witted man by my side makes for lots of fun and laughter – and that sharp sense of humour is going to come in very handy particularly with Craig's comments! Bring it on!"
She went on to joke: "Richard is no newcomer to competitive reality television shows: he has featured on Celebrity Mastermind and Celebrity Masterchef, doing rather well in both.
"I'm only hoping he knows his Tap from his tapas, his Merengue from his meringue, and doesn't think I mean a dip when I say Salsa!"
Meanwhile in training today it seemed things were starting to get rough between the pair.
"Day 3 @bbcstrictly in training... Me: I just want to dance. @erinboag: You can't just dance, it will be a mess," Richard tweeted this evening.
And following a third day of work with Richard in training, Erin wrote: "I've got to be honest and say my feet are about to drop off! Need foot rub to ease my pain."
The Strictly Come Dancing live shows start next month on BBC One.
