Westlife star Nick Byrne has confessed he's "trembling" ahead of his Strictly Come Dancing debut at the weekend.
The 33-year-old singer revealed on Wednesday night's launch that he was inspired by last year's champion Harry Judd to take part in the show.
He said: “Seeing what Harry Judd did was one of the reasons I did the show. Seeing what he did, he was absolutely brilliant so fair play to him. If I was half as good as he was I’ll be very happy.”
And Nicky revealed that his Westlife pal Shane Filan has been giving him support for the show.
“Shane was buzzing a bit like Cheryl was to Kimberley, he was like “you’ve got to do it! I’ll come down for you, I’ll help you out, waving on the front row," he explained. “It’s very different for us in the sense that we’ve only just split up so the lads might have other things on. I’d love them to come down and hope they do.”
Nicky also said he hoped to beat The X Factor and former boss Simon Cowell in the Saturday night ratings battle.
“I was signed to Simon for 14 years, so it would be a good bit of banter if we won the ratings battle with X Factor," he laughed, adding: “I’m hoping the Westlife boys will come along to support me though. Shane (Filan) said he’d come down just to help me get some votes.”
Nicky is proving popular with our readers, with the singer currently topping our Strictly popularity poll with 40% of the vote.
