Splash! 2014: Rav Wilding left "fighting for his life" after injury

Rav Wilding

Former Splash! 2014 contestant Rav Wilding was left fighting for his life after an injury from the show.

The TV host had to pull out of the ITV series after hurting himself in training before Christmas.

Although the initial injury to his leg was not in itself critical, it did require surgery and complications from that left Rav in hospital over New Years.

“He is in a really bad way right now,” his spokesman revealed last night.

The Daily Mirror newspaper reports today that Rav's fiancee Jill Morgan had to call an ambulance for Rave on New Year's Eve which rushed him to hospital.

A friend told the newspaper: “It was absolutely terrifying. Rav was completely delirious. Jill was beside herself but made sure she took action immediately. He was rushed to A&E where doctors carried out a series of tests and discovered a lung clot.

“It’s such a terrible turn of events but it appears to have formed after he had surgery on his leg, and was left immobile. He was put in a brace and given a wheelchair so he just wasn’t moving.

“Rav has never been more ill, but thanks to his level of physical fitness and his tough mental attitude he will eventually pull through. It’s been the most torturous Christmas and New Year ever for Rav and Jill.”

Rav is now back at home recovering.

Splash! 2014 will continue next Saturday night with its second heat on ITV.

Last night saw Diversity dancer Perri Kiely and telly host Michaela Strachan become the first celebs through to the next round.

Star contestants due to perform in the coming weeks include TV presenter Anna Williamson, The Saturdays singer Una Foden, model Danielle O’Hara and comedian Jenny Eclair.
