So You Think You Can Dance judge Arlene Phillips has revealed she wants to become "the next Simon Cowell" and take over the UK entertainment industry should the music mogul leave for the US. In an interview with this weekend's The Sun, Arelene confessed Cowell had been "a good friend" to her.
Chatting to the tabloid about The X Factor boss, Arelene said: "I don't think he's really looking to go off to America forever - but if he ever did leave the UK, I wouldn't mind stepping into his shoes over here."
Talking about the pair's relationship, she continued: "He has not changed a bit. He was always very opinionated and always thought he was right. He fancied himself, although I never fancied him - I preferred blondes! But I enjoyed his company, and still do. He's always been a good friend."
Arelene, who used to judge X Factor rival show Strictly Come Dancing, returns to the BBC tomorrow night with So You Think You Can Dance from 7:10PM.
