Patrick Monahan has been named the winner of the first series of ITV1 comedy reality talent contest Show Me The Funny. Pat beat Tiffany Stevenson and Dan Mitchell in tonight's live follow at the Hammersmith Apollo. The public voted for their winner after each of the three finalists performed a 5 minute set of original material.
Tiffany finished the show in third place, while Dan finished as runner up. Both will join Pat on his headlining comedy tour starting next month.
Pat has also won a £100,000 cash prize as well as his own stand up DVD release.
Speaking about the winning, a flustered Pat told host Jason Manford this evening: "I'd just like to say thank you very much!
"I am genuinely shocked, I thought I'd be going out the first week! Everyone here has been so great."
Pat previously said: “There are no other Irish-Iranian comedians with a northern upbringing on the circuit – I’m all three rolled into one!”
Show host Jason Manford added: "Comedy has never been bigger and this show has given a thoroughly deserving guy the chance to shine. Pat pulled off a brilliant gig tonight and I’m really pleased for him.”
Patrick will now embark on his own 12-date UK tour supported by runners up Tiffany and Dan which kicks off on 17th September 2011, with his DVD scheduled for release on Monday 28th November from 2Entertain.
