Joseph Washbourn and Claire Richards have become the last two contestants to be eliminated from Popstar to Operastar 2011 in tonight's semi-final, which saw a double elimination. Unlike in previous weeks, there was no sing off, with the public vote alone deciding which of the four semi-finalists went through to the final.
Revealing the results, host Myleene Klass first announced - in no particular order - that the first popstar through to the final was Bucks Fizz singer Cheryl Baker.
The second and last popstar through to the final was then confirmed as former X Factor winner Joe McElderry - leaving Joseph Washbourn and Claire Richards as the popstars missing out.
Claire told host Myleene: "I am going to miss it, I've have a lovely time, it's so nice to be singing again. I'm going to keep it up, I love it."
Meanwhile Joseph joked that he was finally glad to be out after three consecutive weeks in the bottom two. "I don't think my heart was going to stand anymore," he said. "I've had an amazing time I never thought I'd get here. I just want to thank all the mentors and vocal coaches."
Asked who he wanted to win the show next week, Joseph said only: "They're both great."
Joe McElderry and Cheryl Baker will go on to compete in next weekend's final which will see them singing alongside mentors Katherine Jenkins and Rolando Villazón.
The Popstar to Operastar final airs on Sunday at 8PM on ITV1.
