Andy Bell has become the latest contestant to be booted out of Popstar to Operastar this evening after competing with Joseph Washbourn in the sing off. The pair found themselves in the bottom two after the public vote following the final five's third live performances.
Before singing again, the panel told Andy that he needed to "go for it" and "enjoy himself", while they advised Joseph to be "more confident".
It was then time for the judges to decide which of the pair, starting with Katherine Jenkins who said: "I thought it wasn't going to be as clear as cut as that. Only because I think it's the right thing to do, I'm saving Joseph."
Vanessa-Mae added "When I found out Andy was singing that song I was so excited but so nervous and I guess he was too, but I agree with Katherine, it wouldn't be fair for me to save Andy, so I'm saving Joesph."
Simon agreed with the girls, saying: "Because of a wonderful extra surge of emotion and passion I'm going to save Joseph."
Although the result was already decided, head judge Rolando added: "Well you know it's quite obvious that the panel agreed but I have to say it's quite amazing what you've achieved. You can go back to your concerts with a big smile on your face."
Andy told host Myleene Klass: "I just had a complete blank when the song started. I'd have loved to have more time. The pressure is huge but I loved it, it's been fantastic."
Joseph will join Joe McElderry, Claire Richards and Cheryl Baker in next weekend's semi final where TWO more contestants will be eliminated.
Popstar to Operastar continues next Sunday on ITV1 at 8PM.
