Popstar to Operastar contestant Cheryl Baker has found herself looking for something else to calm those last minute nerves before performing, after being banned from drinking! The Bucks Fizz singer told the Daily Star she's been told to lay off the booze to help her voice.
The 57-year-old has so far sailed through the first three weeks of the competition and has been advised by the show's vocal coaches - including blonde beauty Katherine Jenkins - to cut back on the drink.
“We’ve all been warned to protect our voices," Cheryl told the newspaper. "You’re not meant to drink alcohol but have lots of water.
“So everyone is saying, ‘No Bucks Fizz.’ Ha!
“I’m not meant to drink milk or eat cheese or chocolate. Dairy products clog up your chords. But you are meant to get lots of sleep. Some chance!”
Meanwhile the Eurovision winner said she hoped to perform one of her own tracks if she makes it to the final in three weeks’ time.
“I’ve said to the producers if I reach the finals of ‘Popstar to Operastar’ then those of us left should be allowed to sing one of our own famous songs in an opera style," she said.
Cheryl added: “Joe McElderry and Claire Richards are the ones to beat. But we all get along and support each other.”
Popstar to Operastar continues on Sunday on ITV1.
