Melody Thronton has become the third contestant to be booted off of ITV1 reality series Popstar to Operastar. Former Pussycat Doll Melody found herself in the bottom two alongside Joseph Washbourn after the remaining six pop singers all performed classic arias in tonight's latest live show.
With Melody and Joseph in the bottom two, it was up to the panel to decide which contestant would be going home after one last performance.
Rolando Villazón said: "Well again I think they both improved and they both impressed, but I think the performer that went a step further is Joesph."
Simon commented: "For an even better engagement with words and conveying the meaning about what was going on I pick Joseph."
Vanessa-Mae voted for "the person who had more to improve on and delivered", saving Melody.
Katherine, as head judge, was left with the deciding vote. She said: "They both really, really improved. I do feel like one person has sung so much better in rehearsals but just failed to deliver. The person I'm saving is Joseph."
Speaking to host Myleene Klass after her exit, Melody said: "Honestly, I just tried to relax as much as possible. I'm not here for me, I'm here to inspire people to do things they wouldn't normally do. I think I've surprised a lot of people. I'm not in my home so I think I could've done with some more support, but I'm so grateful for the support I do get."
Joseph will continue in the competition alongside Joe McElderry, Andy Bell, Claire Richards and Cheryl Baker in next Sunday's show.
