Former Pussycat Doll singer Melody Thornton has made it sure that viewers realise she's taking part Popstar to Operastar to win the show. The American R&B star told BANG! Showbiz this week that she was really learning to appreciate opera head of the start of the series next Sunday.
Melody promised that she would “kick some ass” in her attempt to beat the competition, which includes former X Factor winner Joe McElderry and ex-Steps star Claire Richards.
She said: “I’m singing opera, kicking some ass, learning a new technique and it’s really exciting. Everybody’s really sweet. I love everyone, they’re awesome. They’re all really good.
“But look, I want to win. I didn’t try out and find my way here not to.”
Melody continued: “I’m learning to really appreciate opera. Classical is something I think is neglected amongst our younger demographic, it’s really hard."
Meanwhile on the show's judge Katherine Jenkins, she added: "[Katherine] is so amazing, she’s one of my mentors and I’m really thankful for that.”
Popstar to Operastar starts on Sunday June 5 on ITV1. A special introduction show will air at 9:30PM on ITV next Saturday.
