Four members of the Made In Chelsea crew are unharmed after a plane crash during filming.

It's been reported this evening that a number of the show's production team were plucked from the sea alive after the accident.

They were aboard a private jet filming in Costa Rica for an upcoming special of the E4 series.

No cast were on board and all of those involved, including the plane's pilot, are said to be safe and unharmed after being rescued.

Filming for the special has now been abandoned, with programme makers working on returning other cast and crew home.

A spokesperson for E4 said in a statement: "Four of our Production Team on Made in Chelsea, produced by Monkey Kingdom, were involved in a plane crash earlier today (UK time) in a resort in Costa Rica.

"We can confirm that all four people and the pilot are safe and unhurt.

"No cast were onboard.

"We are grateful to the emergency services in Costa Rica for their assistance in this serious incident."

They added: "We have taken immediate steps to ensure those involved have every support locally and our priority is to return all cast and crew home.

"We ask that the privacy of everyone involved in Made in Chelsea, both on and off screen, is respected over the coming days."

The Costa Rica special of Made In Chelsea was expected to air at the end of the year, following the series currently airing Monday nights on E4.
