In this evenings episode, as Wes and Megan grow closer, and rejuvenated following the Islanders’ decision to save them as a couple, Wes has something to say.
Taking Megan for a private conversation on the terrace, Wes reflects on their last few weeks together.
He begins: “We’re boyfriend and girlfriend now so whatever happens in here is technically irrelevant. Obviously I’d love to go the distance. We’ve got to where we are for a reason and it’s worked out.
"If we weren’t happy we would say to each other we weren’t happy, but I can honestly say I’ve never been happier. Like, ever, ever. Before this. Obviously I value every single second, every single day I wake up with you.”
In a heartfelt admission, Wes then declares the true extent of his feelings towards her: “For me my Love Island journey started when I met you.
"Honestly, I’m just getting deeper and deeper. I am falling in love with you. It’s been a couple of weeks, like two weeks, but I am falling in love with you. I’m not going to lie. I do love you and I think I’ve been thinking it a couple of days.
"I’ve been thinking ‘is it too early for me to say it?’ but I obviously didn’t know how you felt so I didn’t want to say it and then obviously sound really wet.”
Pressing Megan on her own feelings, Wes is relieved when his sentiments are reciprocated: “You know I do. You know I love you. I said it the other day quietly. I do. I haven’t been this happy in such a long time.”
Reflecting on the milestone moment, Wes tells the Beach Hut: “It’s something I’ve wanted to say for a long time and she’s said it back. I’m buzzing. I’m the happiest man alive again.”
Love Island 2018 airs tonight at 9PM on ITV2.
