Caroline Flack isn’t sure this summer’s Love Island can match last year’s series

Caroline Flack has confessed she’s not sure if Love Island 2018 will live up to last year’s

The antics of the likes of Chris & Olivia and winners Kem & Amber saw the ITV2 series hit ratings highs in 2017.

The final episode of the third series averaged 3.1 million viewers, the highest rating ever for the revived series which first aired in 2015.

And it also became ITV2’s joint most watched show of all time, alongside a 2011 episode of Celebrity Juice which also had 3.1 million viewers.

With hype already building for the 2018 run, Caroline has admitted it may not match up to last year.

On the other hand, it could go even bigger.

“I think Love Island is popular because people can relate to it. I don’t know how it will do this year… you never know,” she told the Daily Star on Sunday newspaper. “But I’m hoping we can make it as good.

“The people will be different so we’ll get different stories.”

Caroline went on to rave about the show: “People love other people’s relationships. And all relationships are different. I like the love bits.

“Some people like the drama but I like the really loving bits. They’re the bits that make me cry.”

And she added: “I’m proud of how it’s grown. With all shows, you have to give them a chance and not axe them after the first series.

“When we did the first series the storylines were brilliant. It was just as good then. It’s just more people watched it last series.”
