‘Real reason’ Love Island’s Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay split

Love Island 2017 winners Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies didn’t last the distance – and here’s why.

After 132 days together, the couple called it a day at the end of 2017.

“With sadness, we’ve decided to separate,” they said in a statement in December. “We fell in love in the villa and want to thank all the fans of the show for supporting us.

“Our schedules made it difficult. We’ll remain good friends.”

Speaking ahead of the new series, Amber has revealed what went wrong.

She told ITV’s Lorraine: “For sure it was the pressure of fame [behind our split], you have to make that decision – either commit to the relationship and work on it, or you get sworn into this life and you concentrate on your career.

“Doing both of them is really hard.”

Despite parting ways, Amber was full of praise for Kem.

She said: “I struggled a bit when we broke up and Kem knows that, he was so brilliant with me – I’d message him and he’d talk me through it.

“But Kem and I were in two different stages in our lives; he still lived with his parents, I was his first girlfriend while I’d been in numerous relationships, I moved to London at 16 and was very independent. It wasn’t our fault we didn’t work, for me it he was the right person at the completely wrong time.”

Amber and Kem won Series 3 of ITV2’s Love Island in the summer and ended up sharing the £50,000 prize fund.

However the cash soon proved to be pocket money for the pair who have each reportedly made over £1 million.

Amber upset with Kem after recoupling.

As well as magazine and modelling deals, they bagged themselves a TV presenting spot as summer showbiz correspondents on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

Kem has also cashed in with pal Chris Hughes, with the pair appearing in their own reality series and getting a Number 1 single on iTunes.

Plus, earlier this year saw Kem competing in Dancing On Ice on ITV.
