Love Island winner wants plus-size women to apply for the next series

Love Island 2016

Love Island winner Cara De La Hoyde has encouraged 'plus-size women' and 'guys with no abs' to apply for next year's series.

Although a fourth series of Love Island hasn't been confirmed by ITV2 just yet, the huge success of this year's run makes it all but certain.

And winner of 2016's show Cara De La Hoyde hopes 2018's run will feature a more diverse range of contestants - so long as they apply.

"It’s going to be bloomin’ hard work to get into that villa next year," she said this weekend. “The number that applied this year was big, so next year is going to be even bigger."

Speaking to potential Islanders, Cara told the Sunday People newspaper: “Don’t be put off by how you perceive yourself.

"Love Island can only put in people who apply, so if you’re a beautiful plus-size girl – or a guy with not many abs – remember, me and Nathan won.

“Nathan wasn’t 6ft 5in with loads of abs.

"I’m not blonde with big boobs – I’m brunette, with mixed origins and little boobies.”

Cara and Nathan Massey won last year's show, splitting the £50,000 prize.

While they stayed together for a year, the couple announced their split back in May before revealing they were expecting their first child together.

In a recent interview with OK! magazine, Cara admitted it wasn't a planned pregnancy, saying: "How it came about, I'm not sure. It's just a beautiful surprise."

She's now said to be working on a book for single mums.
