Love Island 2017: Jonny Mitchell confuses everyone with his new happy attitude

A smug Jonny

Jonny Mitchell is over the moon on Love Island 2017 tonight - despite being dumped by Tyla Carr.

The happy chappy makes breakfast as he reveals his feelings now he knows where things stand with Tyla after they broke things off last night.

“Of course I’m attracted to the girl, of course I like the girl but at the same time if you expect me to be a certain way and then I am that way and you get annoyed at me, then it’s dumb…” he says.

“We’ve been seeing each other 10 days or something like that and I just think it was a lot of pressure she was putting on me, and now the fact I don’t have to worry about it makes me feel a lot better.

"We both had some pretty valid points last night, we decided to call it off and you know what, if it was a girlfriend of 10 years I might be a bit more upset about it but I’m not going to mope around. I’m happy to be back where I am now. I’m happy to be myself again.”

But in the beach hut, Tyla reveals she has been confused by Jonny’s new positive attitude: “It’s grinding on me, he’s too happy now, just annoyingly happy… Jonny is a new man, he has gone from being mopey, moany, sad Jonny to what I only can describe as singing, dancing, happy.”

She later talks to Jonny: “You went from being the most moodiest, aggy geezer to being like overly happy and overly hyper in the space of a couple of hours. I’m just annoyed you weren’t like that in the beginning.”

Meanwhile, the rest of the Islanders have also noticed Jonny’s good mood. Tyla tells the girls about her confusion as to why he can be so happy after they have split. The girls tell her she needs to have a think about what she wants.

Later, Tyla confides in the girls: “Obviously things are over between me and Jonny. Feelings are still there but not. There were a couple of things I wanted to say to him today that I haven’t said to him… Whatever way the conversation goes, I still want to chat to him.”

Gabby asks if Tyla regrets ending things with Jonny last night.

Tyla replies: “I do but I thought it would have gone a lot differently, I thought he would have put up more of a fight. I thought he would have had a lot more to say rather than just ‘That’s your choice’ so I’m gutted in that respect.”

Meanwhile, Jonny tells Jamie that he still fancies Tyla before the pair meet up for a chat.

Love Island 2017 continues tonight at 9PM on ITV2.
