Miss Great Britain has DENIED Love Island star Zara Holland's claim that she wasn't told she couldn't have sex on TV - with the organisation saying it BANNED her from doing Ex On The Beach for that very reason.
Zara was stripped of her Miss GB crown last week after she was shown getting frisky between the sheets on the ITV2 reality show.
The 20-year-old has since criticised the decision - but today the beauty pageant has hit back, revealing that it previously vetoed plans for her to join MTV's Ex On The Beach.
In a statement released to Digital Spy, a Miss GB spokesperson said: "In January, Zara approached us about taking part in Ex on the Beach, which our National Director refused to give her permission for.
"We explained that we felt the premise of the show was more about sex and not something we wanted her or the brand associated with. Zara was very unhappy with our decision and we spent days going backwards and forwards."
Addressing Zara's claim that she was never warned against such behaviour, the rep added: "We allowed Zara to take part in [Love Island] on the condition that she didn't have sex – she knows she cannot do anything to bring the competition into disrepute.
"This was a verbal agreement, as once she was selected we had a few weeks before she was going to fly out, however it was apparently leaked to the press and Zara had to fly out straight away, her phone was taken from her and we had no contact with her for the whole show."
Zara has now quit Love Island to return to the UK due to a family illness - but although she initially claimed she didn't regret doing the show, this morning she told ITV's Lorraine that it was the "biggest mistake of her life".
