Tonight's Love Island 2016 on ITV2 has seen the first elimination of the series with one boy getting the boot.

There's been less than a week since the launch and first coupling and we've had a pair of new additions since then.

In tonight's show, the islanders received a text to say that the first recoupling would happen that evening - the girls had to chose a boy to couple with and the boy not chosen would be dumped from the island.

The islanders gathered around the fire pit to make their choices, but who will ultimately be unlucky in the game of love and be the first to leave the Love Island villa? Here's how the first recoupling went...

As a result the remaining guy, Javi Shephard, left the villa.

"I'm really sorry, I'm really sorry, I don't want to let you down," sobbed Zara after the results.

Earlier in tonight's show, before the recoupling, Zara found herself finding it difficult to pick between Javi and Daniel.

In a final plea to Zara, Javi begged: “I’m on your team, if you pick me I’m 100% on your team. There’s no bullsh*t. I’m literally praying, please just give me a chance. Please, trust me. Please give me a chance and get to know me. Please Zara, please.”

Daniel also made one final attempt to convince Zara: “I know you have passion and I know that you care. That really drew me to you. The first time I really wanted to get to know you was when you were upstairs and crying, because that really touched my heart. At the end of the day, I’m here to meet somebody. Out of everybody here, the person I want to get to know is you. If you didn’t pick me, then I’ll just go home.”

Confused and frustrated by the situation, Zara said: “I don’t want to be in this situation at all, I’m letting someone down and that’s going to be the worst thing in the world.”

Love Island 2016 continues Sunday night on ITV2 from 9PM.
