Malin Andersson and Terry Walsh appear to be the latest couple on Love Island 2016, but how has their flirting been taken by their former partners?
Before last night, Malin was getting with Rykard Jenkins while Terry's love interest was Olivia Buckland.
However in a date between terry and Malin, the pair confessed their mutual feelings for one another.
Yesterday, as news spread through the villa of Malin and Terry’s attraction, Scott considered the impact it would have on the islanders: “Terry’s saying that him and Malin like each other and that they want to give it a go. So now he’s in a position where he’s literally got to shake the whole f**king house up.
"If he and Malin get together, then the whole house will be hit like a tornado - it’s that bad."
In scenes that will air on ITV2 tonight, Scott continued: “It’s the two worst people this could happen to though - Rykard and Olivia, because they’re both stubborn, fiery people.”
The next morning, Terry was still struggling with how to deal with the situation: “As hard as it is, I’m going to try and distance myself. [Olivia] knows something’s up, she was crying last night. [Rykard’s] been funny with me today, or maybe I’ve been a bit funny with him. I can’t go up to him and shake his hand, knowing what I said [to Malin] last night. I just feel terrible for it. I’m shaking, I’m pulling my hair out. I slept so badly.”
He continued: “Last night was so overwhelming. It’s so easy in here to crumble. Last night I just didn’t know what way to look or what way to turn. Obviously you can’t hide away from anything in here, you can’t hide your feelings. Everything’s so obvious.”
Deciding that honesty is the best policy, Terry opened up to Rykard about his feelings for Malin: “This whole situation’s tearing me apart. I’ll be honest with you mate - I love you but, I’ve been put in a situation now. I didn’t think it was going to go last night how it did with Malin. I’ve walked away from everything so confused. You’re my boy in here, that’s why it’s making this situation so much more difficult. Back home I’d never dog out one of my boys, I’d never do that and I’ve never done it. I feel like I’m stabbing you in the back.”
An understanding Rykard told Terry: “Listen, I’ve got a lot of time for you, I think you’re a very genuine lad. I’ve got a lot of time for Malin as well. I don’t think either of you intended for this to happen. Because of that, I appreciate you’ve said what you’ve got to say, it’s a good chat - well done.
Rykard continued: “I knew what was happening as soon as you both came back from that date. At the end of the day, you’re a good geezer, she’s a nice girl. If she gives you butterflies, you’ve got to do it. She’s like a princess, so as long as you treat her like one. ”
A relieved Terry said: “If I felt like it was just going to be a fling between the two of us, then I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t have put myself in this situation if I didn’t proper like her.”
In the Beach Hut, Rykard was upset but understanding: “Obviously I want to be with Malin. But if she likes Terry and Terry likes her then it is what it is and you’ve got to let that go and let them explore that because that’s nice for them. I’m a grown man, I can handle myself and handle my feelings but I don’t need to be chasing after a little girl who doesn’t know what she’s doing.
Later, Rykard told Malin: “You’ve got to go with your heart. If that’s natural, then that’s what it is. I don’t like seeing you upset and I’m fond of Terry and I don’t want to see him upset. I just want you both to be happy.”
After Terry explained his feelings for Malin to Olivia, she said: “I do understand, it’s the same situation I was in - you can’t force anything. You know when you’re mates with someone and you know when you’re not.”
Olivia later told the Beach Hut: “The butterflies aren’t there anymore and it’s just a bit weird. If they’re there for Malin, then he has to follow that. I wouldn’t get angry at that because we haven’t known each other two seconds.”
Terry considered who took the news the best between Olivia and Rykard: “Olivia seems alright, she’s just dealt with it. She’s been in my position before where you like someone but you don’t like like them. I think she gets it. Rykard hasn’t been in that situation before, so it’s new to him. It’s just narked him I think.”
In the bedroom, Olivia reassured Malin that she was ok with the situation: “You’re my girl. Like I said to Terry, you’ve got to go with your gut and follow things that you think are right. It’s been a couple of days, no one really knows each other.”
An upset Malin told Olivia: “I don’t want to hurt you, that’s the only thing. That’s not my intention.”
Olivia began to get upset too, saying: “You’re fine, nothing’s going to change. Don’t beat yourself up, because if you do that’ll p*ss me off more than anything. Just please be yourself. Don’t be upset. I care more about you than anyone else in here, so I want you to be happy.”
Love Island 2016 airs tonight at 9PM on ITV2.
