The Let It Shine contestants face an intense dance challenge for the next stage, it's been revealed.

Over the past two weekends we've seen the start of the auditions but this is only the very first part of the process.

In the auditions, each hopeful sings in front of the judges Gary Barlow, Dannii Minogue, Martin Kemp and guest judge Amber Riley.

They've just one song to impress before, without conferring, each judge awards a mark out of 5 for the performance.

The guys on stage need 15 or more points out of the total of 20 on offer in order to get through to the next challenge.

At the end of all the auditions, those who scored the 15 or more stars will take part in a 'dance assessment'.

At the Dance Assessment, the successful contestants from the first round of auditions will be required to learn and perform a short choreographed routine.

The judges - now without guest Amber - will watch all the performances, deliberate together and then pick the top 40 boys to go through to Part 2 of the contest.

Those that don't make it wont be out completely, instead they'll become reserves should any of the top 40 withdraw from the competition.

The second stage of Let It Shine will see the talented contestants perform together in five group numbers for the very first time. In all-singing and all-dancing extravaganzas, they will seek to prove their worth as they collaborate with some of the UK’s most-loved artists with spectacular staging and one big song after another.

The guest performers revealed already are Busted, Beverley Knight, Melanie C, Olly Murs and Kaiser Chiefs.

Five groups of eight individuals will perform with one of the guest artists. The judges will then select five individuals from each group to go through to the live finals next year.

Let It Shine airs Saturday nights on BBC One.
