What is Let It Shine?
The new BBC One talent series follows similar previous musicals series with Andrew Llyod Webber, such as Any Dream Will Do and Over the Rainbow.
Fronted by Gary Barlow, Let It Shine will follow the hunt for singers to perform in a new stage musical based on the songs of Gary's band Take That.
The winners will perform in the production when it hits stages across the UK.
Who are the judges?
Alongside Gary, Spandau Ballet singer Martin Kemp and former X Factor judge Dannii Minogue will take up a role on the judging panel.
They were joined by guest judge, West End singer and star of Glee Amber Riley for the first stage of the competition.
Gary Barlow said: “Dannii, Martin and Amber all bring so much to this panel with the breadth of experience in music, acting, stage and TV. I can’t wait to get started – it’s going to be epic!”
Other guest judges will appear throughout the series at different stages of the competition with Lulu on last weekend.
Tonight's first live show will see Ricki Lake join the panel while next weekend Ashley Roberts is confirmed for the show.
Meanwhile, Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc will be presenting Let it Shine
Who do Let It Shine auditions work?
During the auditions the boys have just one performance to impress the judges to make it through to the next stage. Each judge will mark the singers out of 5 and they need to score 15 marks or more to progress.
After the first audition, a dance test will see the hopefuls whittled down to 40 for the next stage with the other acts becoming 'reserves'.
What happens in the live shows?
In the live shows it'll be the viewers who have the power, voting for their favourite after the bands perform live. The two bands with the least votes will perform again before being disbanded. The judges will then pick the best individual five boys to reform into a new group to go through to the next week, while the other five will be sent home.
What time is Let It Shine on TV?
Let It Shine started on TV on BBC One on Saturday, January 7 at 7PM and will run for eight weeks.
The first live episode will air on BBC One tonight at 6:55PM.
What else do we know?
As mentioned above, alongside Gary, Martin and Dannii, the BBC have also teased an array of guest judges including Amber Riley and LuLu.
Plus, a number of guest stars will also perform with the acts as part of the audition process.
The second stage of the competition will see the talented contestants perform together in five group numbers for the very first time. In all-singing and all-dancing extravaganzas, they will seek to prove their worth as they collaborate with some of the UK’s most-loved artists with spectacular staging and one big song after another.
The guest performers revealed are Busted, Beverley Knight, Melanie C, Olly Murs and Kaiser Chiefs.
